Children's Miracle Network honors remarkable children who have triumphed despite severe medical challenges. For their courage, tenacity and perseverance, the children on these pages have been selected as ambassadors for the thousands of kids treated each year at St. Louis Children's Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center. They are at the heart of this event, and as the SLADM Mission states, it's all FOR THE KIDS!
Samantha was born 4 weeks premature, however healthy. Her blood sugar had to be monitored closely for the first 36 hours since doctors were concerned because her mom is diabetic. Samantha was fine until April 2000 when she was diagnosed as diabetic as well. She was just getting adjusted to this when she was diagnosed with Leukemia.
Hailey was born in April of 2000. She was a happy, healthy baby girl! When she was 14 months old, Hailey was diagnosed with cancer in both kidneys. Hailey started dialysis immediately as well as chemo- therapy. She received chemo for six months, during which, both kidneys were removed.
